Hartenbos Private Game Lodge offers a range of beautifully appointed units designed for ultimate privacy and comfort. Each space blends modern convenience with a touch of rustic charm, creating a quiet sanctuary in the heart of the bush. You can look forward to waking up to the sounds of the wild and taking in sweeping views of the valleys and the distant Outeniqua Mountains from your doorstep. For those who prefer a solid structure, our two Luxury Villas are perfect for up to four guests. These units feature two stylish bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and the other with twin single beds, both served by en-suite shower bathrooms. A cosy central living area and kitchen sit between the rooms, making it a great communal space for friends or family to relax together. If you're looking for a more immersive nature experience, we offer six Luxury Glamping Tents. Four of these are tailored for couples, featuring an en-suite with a walk-in shower and a bath, plus a private deck and braai area. For larger groups, our two Family Tents sleep four people across two bedrooms. All tents are fully self-catering with equipped kitchenettes, and we've included heaters, fans, and electric blankets to ensure you're comfortable no matter the weather. Please note: Meals and game drives aren't included in the room rate and are quoted separately, so feel free to reach out to us to add those to your stay.

Hartenbos and Mossel Bay form a major economic and tourism hub in the Garden Route, situated roughly 400km from both Cape Town and Gqeberha. Mossel Bay serves as the administrative and industrial centre, supported by a commercial harbour and PetroSA's gas-to-liquids refinery, while Hartenbos is a premier seaside resort town originally developed by the ATKV. The region is famous for having the world's second most moderate climate (over 320 days of sunshine annually), a stable Mediterranean rainfall pattern, and diverse marine life, including whales, dolphins, and seals. Demographically, the area is predominantly Afrikaans-speaking with a growing permanent population of over 140,000, increasingly bolstered by its reputation as a preferred retirement destination and a seasonal tourism surge that can see over 100,000 visitors during peak December periods.

* Hartenbos Seefront: This is the heart of the town. It's a massive waterfront precinct with a Waterpark (awesome slides), a heated indoor pool, adventure golf, and a "Klouterpaleis" for the kids. * The Powervan (Diaz Express): A really charming way to see the coast. You hop on a vintage railcar at the Hartenbos station and meander along the cliffs towards the Great Brak River or Glentana. The views are unbeatable. * Hartenbos Beach: A classic Blue Flag beach. It's perfect for long walks, and during the whale season (June-November), you can often spot them playing in the surf from the walkway. * Hartenbos Museum: If you're into history, this museum focuses on the Great Trek. It's surprisingly detailed and gives you a good feel for the local heritage. * The Post Office Tree and Dias Museum: This is a must-see. You can post a letter in a giant boot-shaped post box under a 500-year-old tree. Don't miss the life-size replica of the Caravel ship inside the maritime museum; you can actually go on board. * Mossel Bay Zipline: This is the longest over-ocean zipline in the world. You slide for about 1.1km directly over the crashing waves at speeds of up to 80km/h. It's a massive rush! * The Point and St. Blaize Lighthouse: Drive down to "The Point" to see the lighthouse and the shark lab. If you're feeling energetic, the St. Blaise Hiking Trail starts here and hugs the cliffs for 13.5km (you don't have to do the whole thing to get the best photos). * Shark Cage Diving and Boat Trips: Mossel Bay is one of the best places in SA to see Great Whites. If staying dry is more your speed, take a boat trip out to Seal Island to see the colony of thousands of Cape Fur Seals. * Botlierskop or Indalu Game Reserve: Both are just a short drive inland. They offer great day-visitor game drives where you can see rhino, lion, and buffalo. Indalu even offers "elephant walks" where you can interact with the gentle giants. * Pro Tip: If you're looking for a good meal, The Kingfisher in Mossel Bay is famous for its seafood and pizza. Vino at the Hartenbos Seefront is a local favourite for a chilled lunch.
