Kingfisher Lakeside Retreat

OVERVIEW

Nestled on 15 acres of unspoilt coastal landscape, Kingfisher Lakeside Retreat in Southbroom offers a peaceful escape where nature and comfort come together. Surrounded by indigenous vegetation, free-roaming buck and abundant birdlife, the retreat provides a serene setting for couples, families and friends seeking to unwind along South Africa's coastline. A picturesque freshwater lake, currently undergoing rehabilitation following the 2019 floods, remains at the heart of the property, while two stocked fishing dams provide opportunities for leisurely angling. Guests can also explore the grounds, enjoy a paddle boat outing, relax beside the swimming pool or simply take in the tranquil surroundings. The beach is only a five-minute walk away, making it easy to enjoy both coastal adventures and peaceful moments immersed in nature. Accommodation consists of spacious, well-equipped glamping tents designed for a comfortable self-catering stay. Each features a queen-size bed and two single beds, quality linen, a fully equipped kitchen with a two-plate gas hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, cutlery and crockery, as well as a coffee station and fan. Bathrooms include a double vanity and a generous semi-open-air shower, while selected tents also boast a private splash pool and elegant slipper bath for an added touch of luxury. Every tent extends onto its own outdoor living space with seating, a Weber braai, gas skottel and dedicated boma fire area, creating the perfect setting for relaxed evenings beneath the stars. Complimentary Wi-Fi, hammocks and beach umbrellas add to the convenience, allowing guests to enjoy everything from quiet afternoons to memorable outdoor dining experiences. Nestled within 15 acres of unspoilt coastal forest, Kingfisher Lakeside Retreat is a hidden sanctuary where nature sets the pace and every stay feels a little slower, a little simpler, and a lot more memorable. Surrounded by indigenous trees, free-roaming buck and an abundance of birdlife, our peaceful retreat offers the perfect escape for couples, families, friends and solo travellers looking to reconnect with nature on the beautiful KZN South Coast. At the heart of the property lies a tranquil freshwater lake, currently being lovingly restored following the 2019 floods, while two stocked fishing dams provide a peaceful spot to cast a line and unwind. Wander the natural pathways, glide across the lake on a paddle boat, cool off in the swimming pool, or simply relax beneath the trees and enjoy the soundtrack of birdsong. Trafalgar Beach is just a short five-minute stroll away, inviting guests to swap forest trails for sandy feet whenever the mood strikes. Our spacious self-catering glamping tents have been thoughtfully designed to combine the adventure of camping with the comforts of home. Each tent comfortably accommodates up to four guests with a queen-size bed and two single beds dressed in quality linen, a fully equipped kitchen, coffee station, fan, and generous bathroom featuring a double vanity and a unique semi-outdoor shower that brings you even closer to nature. Selected tents also offer the added luxury of a private splash pool and elegant slipper bath. Step outside onto your private deck where mornings begin with coffee and birdsong, afternoons drift by in a hammock, and evenings are spent around your Weber braai or boma fire beneath a canopy of stars. Every tent includes comfortable outdoor seating, a gas skottel, complimentary Wi-Fi, beach umbrellas, and everything you need to embrace the relaxed rhythm of outdoor living.
