Lakeside Guesthouse offers guests a 4-star, tranquil and luxurious home-away-from-home ambience, located in Lichtenburg. All our rooms have private entrances except for the Standard Family Room, which is upstairs on the first level. The rooms overlook the lush gardens as well as the Lichtenburg Lake. Each room features an en-suite bathroom. Each room contains air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, coffee and tea facilities, a bar fridge, a microwave, a work desk, free Wi-Fi access, a TV with selected DStv channels, a lockable safe to store valuables, and other luxuries for convenience. We also have a large safe for hunting rifles. The guests keep the keys. Full English Breakfast with yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruit salad, fruit juices and fresh coffee and tea is available on request, as well as lunch or dinner. Lying between the towns of Mafikeng and Coligny on the R503, Lichtenburg is predominantly a farming town about 200 kilometres west of the major metropolis of Johannesburg. The pretty little town of Lichtenburg, whose streets are lined with willow trees, emerged as early as 1873, but it was the diamond rush that placed Lichtenburg on the map, bringing thousands of prospectors to this part of the world in the late 1920s. Lichtenburg remains today predominantly because of the surrounding maize, groundnut and sunflower seed farms that owe their existence to the presence of natural water resources in the area – hence the willows. Lichtenburg is worth a stopover for the quaint tranquillity, sense of history and calm that the little town offers visitors. It's also a convenient stopover en route to the Mmabatho casino.
