A trip to the Naval Hill & Franklin Reserve is a must. The flat-topped hill affords an unrivalled view over Bloemfontein, while the plains boast a variety of giraffes, springbuck, ostriches, and buffalo roaming freely. The White Horse monument makes for great photography, contrasting against the slopes of the hill. It was constructed during the Anglo-Boer War as a landmark for horsemen coming in from the plains.
