Many of Cape Town's most famous tourist attractions are mere minutes away from Carmichael House. Table Mountain is undeniably the biggest tourist attraction in South Africa. The summit can be reached by trails a few minutes' walk away or by cable-car. The V&A Waterfront is 10-minute driving distance away. Much of its charm lies in the fact that this busy commercial harbour is set in the midst of a huge entertainment venue with pubs, restaurants, specialty shops, craft markets, theatres and movies. Daily tours to Robben Island depart from the V & A Waterfront. Also in close proximity are the beaches of Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandudno. Further afield are the Cape Winelands, the beaches of Noordhoek and Kommetjie, and Cape Point.
