4 Self-Catering Cottages in Dullstroom, Mpumalanga, South Africa, situated conveniently between Gauteng and the Kruger National Park and Mozambique, making it an ideal stop-over destination to break your trip, or as a quick getaway for a mid-week or weekend break.
The Artists Cottages are in the heart of Dullstroom village. They are situated within walking distance of designer shops, upmarket restaurants and classic old style pubs. There are four quirky self catering units comprising 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and open plan kitchen / lounge. The cottages are spacious and can comfortably accommodate four persons each. Each cottage has its own fireplace and a starter bundle of wood is provided.
Kitchens are fully equipped and a Weber braai is provided for Monet, Renoir and Picasso. Van Gogh has a built in brick braai, and there is a built in braai in the garden, ideal for groups who book out the whole venue.
The cottages are decorated and themed according to renowned artists, Picasso, Renoir, Monet and Van Gogh. Each cottage has paintings and décor suiting the era as well as the artist style. Your experience at Le Quartier is aimed at drawing you back to experience another artists talent. Paintings were commissioned locally and depict each Artists best known works.
For the nature enthusiasts, step one road back and you find yourself in the country. Dullstroom has spectacular bird life and it’s not uncommon to see a duiker strolling down the road at night.
The Artists Cottages at Le Quartier were established to provide affordable but upmarket accommodation for visitors to Dullstroom. The cottages are quaint, cosy and secure. You immediately feel the country vibe, a stones’ throw away from a good cup of coffee or a whisky tasting. Dullstroom offers arguably the best upmarket country vibe of any South African destination.
A high palisade fence borders the road facing section of the property, providing security for pets and children. There are four undercover parking bays. The cottages are located in the centre of town, and within walking distance of pubs, restaurants and shops, making it great to leave your car safely at the cottage and stroll through the village during the day as well as at night, which is safe to do. It beats the stress of drinking and driving!
Wander either north or south away from the main road, and you’ll find yourself in the middle of pristine countryside; a perfect setting for hiking, off-road cycling, bird watching, trout fishing, walking, horse riding, and any other adventure offered on nearby farms.

Not only are walking and cycling a must, for the more adventurous there are 3 different horseback riding outfits, catering to every level of experience and all offering beautiful countryside to ride through. Trout dams and trout fishing have made Dullstroom a popular destination for those wanting to either learn to cast a line, or to show off their skills on the water. The 3 Angling shops in town are more than happy to give casting lessons, advise on which flies are working or give proper guided lessons, depending on your requirements.
