Fernhill Guest Farm, outside Knysna, is a piece of paradise in the heart of the Garden Route, where you will find a new connection with each other once you slow down, let go of all the distractions and allow nature to be your teacher. Whether a small group, a family, or a couple seeking a romantic getaway, the Farm Cottages or Glamping Tents have you covered.
The self-catering accommodation is not just an overnight stop, it is a fully South African farm experience where you can learn how to milk a cow by hand, interact with the farm animals, and even indulge in our farm-fresh homemade ice cream. Take a blanket, lie under the African night sky, and be mesmerized by all the stars and fireflies.
The lovely cottages comprise 2 bedrooms that are furnished with a double bed and 2 single beds and a sleeper couch in the living area. The bathrooms are fitted with a shower or a bath with an overhead shower and toilet. The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a microwave, oven, tea and coffee facilities and a dining table. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating and a fireplace, opening onto the covered patio with a built-in braai area overlooking the farm. Pets are welcome with prior arrangements.
Situated in a small indigenous forest, the tented treehouses can accommodate between 2 to 4 people. The Double Tented Treehouse is on one level and the open-plan tent has a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with a spa bath and overhead shower, overlooking the forest. The kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge, microwave, induction cooker and all cutlery and crockery.
The multi-level Family Tented Treehouse has a first-floor bedroom furnished with a king-size bed and bunk beds, tea and coffee facilities and opens onto a balcony with outdoor seating. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with a spa bath and shower overhead. On the lower level, the open-plan living area has a kitchenette, which is equipped with a fridge-freezer, induction cooker, microwave and cutlery and crockery. This tent has steep steps without handrails and no children under 6 are allowed for safety reasons. Please consider these conditions when making reservations with elderly guests as well.
The cosy Small Family Tented Treehouse offers a king-size bed, a sleeper couch for 2 children and an en-suite bathroom with a spa bath and overhead shower on the first floor, which opens onto the deck. Located underneath, is the kitchenette which is equipped with a microwave, induction cooker, cutlery, crockery and a fridge.
For convenience, an electric blanket, heater, fan and tea and coffee facilities are available in each tent, and each tent has an outdoor charcoal braai area. Regrettably, pets cannot be accommodated at the Tented Treehouses.
Life slows down as you turn onto Highway West, a beautiful country road, leading you to Fernhill Guest Farm, which is situated just outside Knysna in the beautiful area of Rheenendal. This area is known for its magical ancient forests, cycling and hiking trails. Fernhill is a mere 15-minute drive to Knysna and the beautiful beach at Buffalo Bay, while only being 20 minutes away from Sedgefield, with its ever-popular Saturday Wild Oats Market, so you will be spoiled for choice when looking for places to visit.
Enshrouded in lush indigenous forest and surrounding a scenic lagoon of the same name, the Garden Route town of Knysna has plenty to offer. Two towering headlands guard the entrance to the picturesque bay in Knysna, while the hilly rainforest setting provides an array of nature trails to explore. Along with the many natural attractions, places to visit in Knysna include an array of cafes, restaurants, craft shops, and art galleries. Visits to the elephant park, whale and dolphin watching, and sampling the renowned local beer and oysters can be good additions to your Knysna itinerary.
