Welcome to Great Heart Farm, where family and tranquillity come together. At Great Heart Farm, we are a close-knit family with a love for exploring the world, sharing meaningful meals, and finding peace in life’s quieter moments. Our farm is an invitation to pause, to connect, and to create lasting memories with extended family and dear friends.
Nestled in nature’s embrace, our farmstay offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Whether you’re here for soulful sunsets, slow mornings, or laughter around the table, this is a place to feel truly at home.
The name “Great Heart” comes from one of our favourite South African bands, whose lyrics speak of a highway of stars, the wind in the grass, the edge of the sky, and your story like the wind— a reflection of everything we hope to share with you here.

Set along the iconic Route 62 — South Africa’s answer to the famous Route 66 — the picturesque town of Montagu is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This scenic route, known as the longest wine route in the world, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and award-winning wines, and Montagu makes the perfect stop for guests travelling between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn.
Tucked between the majestic Langeberg mountains and nestled in the embrace of the Keisie and Kingna Rivers, Montagu is affectionately known as the ‘mountain mecca’ of the Cape. This charming town is celebrated for its abundant orchards, lush vineyards, fragrant herbs, striking rock formations, and naturally heated mineral springs famed for their healing properties.
Montagu offers a timeless beauty and historical charm, with its streets lined by beautifully preserved examples of Cape Dutch and Georgian architecture. Long Street alone is home to 14 of the town’s 22 national monuments, and Joubert House, a must-see for history lovers, offers a glimpse into life in the late 1800s.
Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat to unwind or you're in search of adventure, Montagu caters to every kind of traveller. Enjoy a rejuvenating soak in the hot springs, or get your heart racing with mountain biking, kloofing, abseiling, paragliding, fishing, or even a tranquil boat ride along the Breede River.
