Inspired by Vasco Da Gama, the units at Da Gama Bay Holiday Units are named after the large merchant ships that Da Gama and his fellow travellers arrived in. The Armada or fleet consisted of São Miguel, São Rafael, and São Gabriel which was accompanied by the supply ship Berrio and Vasco. Beautifully decorated, the 2-bedroom units have bedrooms furnished with a double bed, vanity with a hairdryer and a workstation in the main bedroom, and 2 twin beds in the second room. The rooms share the use of a bathroom with a spacious shower. Our newly added freestanding cottage Vasco is a 1-bedroom unit furnished with a double bed, vanity with a hairdryer and a workstation as well as an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The modern open-plan kitchens are equipped with gas hobs, electric ovens, toasters, microwaves and a refrigerator with fridge and freezer compartments. A Nespresso Capsule Coffee Machine is available. The lounge areas have comfortable leather couches, complimentary high-speed internet, even during load-shedding, a Smart TV and guests are able to view DStv, AppleTV, Netflix and Showmax using their own login details. Each of the units also has an electronic safe, an alarm system and is fitted with burglar bars. Take a dip in the solar heated pool after a long day at the beach or just soak up the sun on the loungers on the pool deck. An outdoor shower is also available to wash off the beach sand. From the private covered braai patio or the communal pool deck, guests will be in one of only three places on earth, in a natural continental bay, that allows them to observe both the rising and the setting of the sun over the ocean, an experience not to be missed.
Da Gama Bay is located in St Helena Bay, approximately 150km north of Cape Town, on the Vredenburg Peninsula of the Cape West Coast. In today's modern times, the village stretches from Laingville through to Duykereiland with Paternoster and Saldanha Bay lying further south, and Laaiplek and Velddrif to the east. Consisting of 18 iconic bays it is a unique part of the West Coast that must be explored.
