Klawer is situated on the N7 towards Cape Town. The town was named after the wild clover that grows in the area. Situated on the banks of the Olifants River, the town has a distinct rural atmosphere and character.
The Olifants River flows from Klawer to Vredendal, and from there, it writhes its way through hills and vineyards to the Atlantic Ocean. Klawer is an excellent starting point from where you can discover the rest of the Olifants River Valley.
In the flowering season, the fields miraculously turn into a fairyland of colour, contrasting sharply with the hard rocks and red earth and contributing to a magnificent sight. Tourists who love history will find the farm in Windhoek quite interesting. The farm is situated about 7 km outside of Klawer.
