Langebaan is a lagoon town on the Cape West Coast. Situated an easy 75 minutes's drive from Cape Town, Langebaan provides an ideal base from which to explore the West Coast and the bounty of excellent attractions in the area. Langebaan Stay Guest House is situated a 5-minute walk from Langebaan Beach, 4 km from Langebaan Country Estate, 6 km from Laguna Mall, and 6.5 km from Club Mykonos Casino, to name a few attractions. The white-sanded beaches and the clear waters of the Langebaan Lagoon are two of the area's main attractions. Formed by the rising and falling of sea levels during prehistoric times, Langebaan Lagoon is a pure salt-water lagoon. Langebaan boasts almost year-round sunshine and its safe waters and reliable winds make it a paradise for water sport enthusiasts – particularly kite surfers, boaters, windsurfers, kayakers, yachtsmen, water skiers, and fishermen. Langebaan borders the scenic West Coast National Park; the only fossil park in South Africa. Although it may not have the Big Five, it does feature the Slow Five: tortoises, whales, sand sharks, porcupines, and dune moles. You may spot eland, wildebeest, hartebeest, bontebok, springbok, kudu, and mountain zebra, including a small flock of ostriches. Langebaan hosts monthly craft markets and art exhibitions, community events such as the church bazaar, and the annual Langebaan Mussel Festival which takes place on the first weekend of October each year. Other activities to be enjoyed in Langebaan include golfing at the Langebaan Country Club, gambling at Club Mykonos Casino, horse riding along the beach, and spa treatments.
