Swellendam is the 3rd oldest town in the Republic of South Africa, a town with 17,537 inhabitants situated in the Western Cape province. The town has over 50 provincial heritage sites, most of them buildings of Cape Dutch architecture.
Die Hoenderhok and Die Plaashuisie is on a farm 12 km (only 1.5km gravel road)from Swellendam and 15 minutes' drive away. The old buildings are from the 1800's and restored to self-catering cottages.
