Magical Cabin in the Woods is a charming self-catering cabin nestled between the trees in a small Milkwood forest in Van Dyksbaai, Kleinbaai. This vacation home is 700 m from the Van Dyk's Bay harbour where the boats launch for sea tours and shark cage diving.
This beautifully crafted timber home is generous and spacious with large indoor spaces and a huge outside deck to enjoy summer days and nights. There is a large master bedroom with an en-suite and a spacious loft which acts as a second bedroom where up to 5 people can sleep. Everything is generous and open plan and very much built around the Milk Wood forest and the sun's position.
The open trusses in the lounge and well-equipped kitchen area offer drama and a sense of space as they tower 7m from the floor to the nock.
It is great as a romantic getaway or for families wanting to break away. You can hear the sea as it is less than 700m from the house.
Let's not forget our furry friends, our home is a rare pet-friendly getaway - just be aware that there are snakes on the property from time to time, as well as tortoises and owls.
Van Dyksbaai is a small area in Kleinbaai, situated 6 kilometres from Gansbaai and positioned amongst milkwood trees, fragrant heather and summer wildflowers.
Kleinbaai lies at the Danger Point Peninsula and is possibly the main reason for Gansbaai’s popular nature-based tourism. It is from the natural harbour of Kleinbaai that shark-diving boats leave with cages that allow visitors to get ‘up close and personal’ with Great Whites (Carcharodon Carcharias) that frequent these waters in such vast numbers.
The waters between the mainland and Dyer Island are commonly referred to as ‘shark alley’ attributable to the 50,000 seals that colonies this island. Kleinbaai has a wonderful tidal pool perfect for children, and a golf course with a sea view, which means that many families prefer the little village. There is a gravel road connecting Kleinbaai along the rugged coast with other little rock pools ending at the lighthouse at Danger Point. This track makes a wonderful hike and, because it is unsuitable even for rugged 4x4s, is generally peaceful.
