Overview

The house Oupa Gallie was named in honour of Gallie Meyer, the founder of Vleesbaai and our great-grandfather. It is a brand-new two-bedroom home, built in 2024. Situated just a few minutes' walk from the beach in Vleesbaai, it offers stunning sea views, a full-sized braai/BBQ, a modern kitchen, a washing machine and free unlimited Wi-Fi. The living room is equipped with a smart TV, providing access to DStv Stream (including all SuperSport channels) and Disney Plus. For other streaming services, guests can easily log into their accounts. The house comfortably accommodates up to four people. The main bedroom features a double bed and offers a beautiful sea view, while the second bedroom has two single beds. Both rooms offer sufficient storage space for clothing. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped with an electric stove, oven, microwave, fridge (with a small freezer), toaster and kettle. You'll also find a front-loader washing machine, iron and ironing board in the kitchen. We're planning to add a dishwasher in 2025. The bathroom, located between the two bedrooms, has a spacious walk-in shower, toilet and basin. You'll enjoy the sea view from the main bedroom, living room, kitchen and stoep, where the braai area is located. The beach is about 400 meters away, just a 5-minute walk downhill. On your way to the beach, you'll pass the charming Vleesbaai Strandwinkel, the only shop in the area, which offers a quaint mixture of something of everything. The walk back from the beach will give you a nice little workout, helping you burn a few calories without even realising it! Oupa Gallie is conveniently located near Vleesbaai's entrance gate, with the added benefit of having a security guard as a neighbour. Vleesbaai is a safe seaside village, but as in any location in South Africa, it is important to remain vigilant and ensure that doors and windows are locked when leaving the house. Guests will have full access to the entire house, along with ample parking as well as an outdoor tap and a washing line outside.

The charming seaside village of Vleesbaai (Eng. Vlees Bay) is tucked away between Gouritsmond and Mossel Bay, close to where the Gouritz River meets the sea at the western end of the Garden Route. This river is famous for offering bungee jumps off the Gouritz River bridge, which stands 65 metres high. Vleesbaai is a peaceful and picturesque holiday destination, perfect for beach lovers, shell collectors, families or friends wishing to spend time together, and those who enjoy soaking up the sun. Its sandy beaches, safe swimming spots, walking paths and opportunities for dolphin and whale watching make it a fantastic escape. Additionally, the nearby Fransmanshoek Nature Reserve offers even more natural beauty. The best part is that visitors can choose how to spend their time - whether it's enjoying the beach, exploring nature, or simply relaxing. Time seems to slow down in this serene location. Surf enthusiasts consider Vleesbaai one of the best-kept secrets along the coast, with gentle waves perfect for bodyboarding, though the surf can reach up to five feet. Just around the corner from Vleesbaai is the small and secluded Vis Bay. Here, an impressive rock formation called Fransmanshoek (Eng. Frenchman's Corner), named after the French ship La Fortune that was stranded there in 1763, juts out into the sea. Near the village of Vleesbaai, visitors can also enjoy beautiful dunes that are popular for 4x4 dune challenges right next to the water. This area is full of attractions for those who want to explore, though it also provides a peaceful retreat for those looking to truly get away from it all. Still Bay, Mossel Bay and Hartenbos are all within easy reach, offering a wide range of activities from fishing to bungee jumping, giving you plenty of options depending on how adventurous you're feeling.
