Welcome to Savannah Game and River Retreat Wedding and Conference venue. We are situated in the Free State just outside Parys – nestled in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site. Our property borders 8 km of the Vaal River, and we are home to 25 mammal species which include buffalo, giraffe, sable, zebra, and kudu, to name but a few. Accommodation comprises Lodge Rooms, Tented Chalets, a romantic Bush Room for honeymooners, and Rondavel accommodation. Each option features a private en-suite bathroom and contains amenities such as tea/coffee facilities, and a sitting area; some options contain a wall heater and electric blankets in winter. A hearty breakfast is available on request, and a menu is available for lunch and dinner. The lodge boasts a giant chess board, a swimming pool and a splash pool, a pool table and a dartboard. Braai areas (service fee would apply) can be arranged for guests, and guests are more than welcome to bring their own braai meat, charcoal, fire lighter and salads. We will keep your food cold in our fridges. Cutlery and Crockery will be provided.
The little country town of Parys lies on the southern banks of the Vaal River about an hour’s drive from Johannesburg. Disputably named after its European counterpart on the banks of the Seine, what makes Parys interesting to visit is that it is situated within the Vredefort Dome Area - the place of the oldest and largest meteorite impact site in the world.
