Sperrgebiet Lodge is situated on the farm Sperrgebiet 10km outside Springbok in the beautiful Namaqualand. The owners of the 300ha farm, Tertius and Mareleze Scheepers realized their dream and bought the piece of land seven years ago with the aim of living a soulful and quiet life far away from the town's hustle and bustle. The farm is situated between mountains and quiver tree covered koppies. Tertius decided to build the Lodge in the middle of this rugged and beautiful semi-desert. The profound silence of the night is broken only by the occasional call of the jackal and the hoot of owls.

During spring you hear the heutjie-heu and the call of the koffiemeul grasshopper and the barking geckos. If you are a bird watcher bring your binoculars. Tertius and Mareleze have together identified 69 different bird species
