Tiger Canyon Private Game Reserve sits on 6100-hectares of prime Karoo landscape with various separate territories for the wild tigers and cheetahs to roam and hunt.
Once you have visited Tiger Canyon, you’ll know why it is different. Besides the obvious tiger which sets us apart, there are antelope that are typically not seen in the game reserves of Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Kwa-Zulu Natal provinces. The solar-powered lodge on the canyon, the vehicles, the vistas, the surreal spirituality, the stars, our guides, our fences, our night drives, the golden hour for photography, the personal touch, all go together to make Tiger Canyon distinctly different, definitely not average.
Tiger Canyon boasts three opulent suites, plus a guide’s room, overlooking a breathtaking canyon. We can cater to groups of up to six guests meaning you have the entire lodge at your party’s disposal. Each luxurious suite has a king-size bed or twin single beds. Refresh yourself with a luxurious bath or shower under the stars in the outdoor shower. Relax in front of the fireplace in your suite, enjoying a nightcap. Sink into the daybed or swing chair on the balcony and enjoy the late afternoon sun.
A unique, life-changing and thrilling African safari experience. Most of our safaris are exclusive and specifically tailored to each guest. The guides at Tiger Canyon are incredibly knowledgeable about our tigers, our cheetahs, our wildlife, the geology of the area, our birds and our plant life. They’re so skilful, they can practically speak tiger.
Our menu and selection of food was created in a Karoo-style, to incorporate the ingredients found in the region. We delight our guests with a unique taste of South Africa. Our amazing chefs offer gourmet plated meals and relaxed family-style eats. Our kitchen offers both meat and vegetarian options, and our chefs cater to any dietary requirements and restrictions.
Philippolis, the nearest town to Tiger Canyon, is an artist’s haven. The region has a rich history as part of the Karoo and the Free State. Tiger Canyon is situated in the False Karoo. On this section of the Free State, along the Orange River, the landscape is filled with deep ravines, treed gully’s, uniquely different rocky outcrops and a balance between open grassland and spectacular canyons. The Orange River flows into the Van der Kloof Dam, South Africa’s second largest dam, bordering the Free State and Northern Cape provinces. Views of the unspoilt dam are best enjoyed from the highest point of Tiger Canyon.
