Tillietudlem Nature Reserve is a part of one of the most threatened eco-systems in Africa – the mist-belt (or mountain) grasslands. More than 60% of the grasslands biome has already been modified, mostly under forestry or arable agriculture, and only 2,2% of the South Africa’s mountain grassland biome is under formal conservation, despite it being one of the world’s most bio-diverse habitats, hosting a plethora of wild flowers and grasses, greater than the acclaimed cape fynbos. The bio diversity of the eco-system supports a huge array of animal and bird species that come to feast on the treasures it holds.
Trout Fishing:
Some of the finest private fly fishing waters on the Midlands Meander! Tillietudlem offers exceptional and exclusive fly fishing for Rainbow and Brown trout in 4 dams and the Eland’s River. The waters are well managed with fish in excess of 4kg. Strictly catch and release.
The Upper Dargle area is renowned for being one of the best trout fishing locations in South Africa due to the pristine water and high altitude, up to 2 000m. Enjoy some of the country’s best fly fishing in a tranquil natural environment. Set on 2000 hectares in a secluded valley on the southern side of the Inhluzane Mountain, in the Upper Dargle, KZN Midlands, Tillietudlem offers an extraordinary eco-experience with a variety of activities available.
